Project: “Eterna Magazine”

This project for my Publication Design class was all about creating my own magazine. One of my favorite things in pop culture is goth and gothic styles, movies, music, art, and cosplay. It is a very broad and interesting subculture that I really wanted to be the theme of my magazine. The name “Eterna” is latin for “eternal.” My chosen model “Blue Astrid” provided vibrant color despite the subject matter, which I felt was a great way to subvert expectations. Through the design, I wanted to express that the gothic subcultures are not only about dressing in black, but quite a lot of different areas of interest for people. “Embrace the Darkness” was what I felt to be the perfect tagline to welcome the reader to seeing the world through a certain dark beauty.
